==Background==
The term NPC originated in traditional tabletop role-playing games where it applies to characters controlled by the gamemaster or referee rather than by another player. In the [[Vulcan Forged]] ecosystem and in particular, [[VulcanVerse]], the term refers at present to the quest giving characters located in each quadrant and will soon apply to a whole host of other characters to appear in the game, such as '''Garos, The Fishmonger of Boreas'''.

=NPCs in VulcanVerse=
As covered, there are plans to include many NPCs in VulcanVerse, creating a thriving realistic environment to spend your time. Some of these will be quest givers and others unique characters that you must interact with such as market traders.

==Quest Giving Characters==
There are currently four quest giving characters in VulcanVerse, one for each quadrant. On accepting and completing the quest they provide, a player can earn XP. The quest givers are as follows:

===Rhadamanthus===
Rhadamanthus, in Greek mythology, was a wise king of Crete and the son of Zeus and Europa. He was considered a demigod. In VulcanVerse, he appears in the Palace of the Dead in the Underworld of Hades as a quest giver.

===King Lykaon===
King Lykaon can be found in the Deep Forest in the Gardens of Arcadia, among the northernmost ruins. In Greek mythology, Zeus transformed Lykaon (or Lycaon), a king of Arcadia, into a wolf.

===The Sphinx===
Located at Pyramid Mausoleum A, the northernmost pyramid in the Desert of Notus, the Sphinx appears in Greek mythology as a monster who plagued the town of Thebes as punishment for an ancient crime, preying on its youths and devouring all who failed to solve her riddle.

===Nysa, Queen of the Oreads===
In Greek mythology, Nysa was a mountainous region. In VulcanVerse, Nysa is a name of one of the Oreads, a mountain nymph. There is a Mount Nysa on the VulcanVerse map.
