What is a sowing?

There are two types of sowing in the Vulcan Forged universe.

  • Sowing a seed item to receive an NFT
  • Sowing a land NFT to upgrade it's level.

Sowing a seed item

Sowing a seed in Vulcan Forged is the process by which a placeholder item is activated by paying a fee.
After the sow fee and number of days have been satisfied, the placeholder item will become usable in-game NFT.

Below is an example of a seed item for Troy Land.

Tier 3 Troy Land Seed.
The upper right indicates we will incur a 5% sow fee which will be subtracted from the locked PYR amount.
The left side indicates that we will be sowing this seed for 20 days before it can become an NFT.
The middle portion indicates the amount of lava we will need to pay to activate this seed.
The right side indicates that we will be temporarily locking up 250 PYR for this seed to turn into an NFT.

In this example, after the 20 days have passed and the 5% fee is applied we will receive 237.50 PYR.
After which the Tier 3 Troy Land Seed will be turned into a Tier 3 Troy Land token which is an NFT.
The NFT is automatically delivered to your inventory along with the remainder of PYR that was locked in the seed.

Sowing your land to upgrade it's level

Sowing is also used as a way to upgrade your Vulcan Verse land NFT.
Your plot of land in Vulcan Verse needs sowing to prime it for staking.
This means you have to pay a one-time fee of PYR to begin the upgrade process.

There are 7 levels of upgrading, and your plot starts at level 1 by default.
Before every land upgrade, you must sow your land before you can stake PYR into it.
However, once you have sowed your plot there is a 20 day waiting period before staking PYR can begin.

Each new level unlocks new assets, more and higher quality materials and higher-level NFTs can be used.
Upgrading your land level also allows you to terramorph your land and build it higher and deeper than previous levels.

Once a plot has been sowed it will always remain sowed and maintain it's level, even when transferring to a new owner.
The cost of sowing varies depending on what land level you are upgrading your NFT to.
See the Staking page for more information on the cost and fees associated with upgrading your land at each level.
