NPC

An NPC is a non-player character or non-playable character. This is any character in a game that is not controlled by a player.

Background

The term NPC originated in traditional tabletop role-playing games where it applies to characters controlled by the gamemaster or referee rather than by another player. In the Vulcan Forged ecosystem and in particular, VulcanVerse, the term refers at present to the quest giving characters located in each quadrant and will soon apply to a whole host of other characters to appear in the game, such as Garos, The Fishmonger of Boreas.

NPCs in VulcanVerse

As covered, there are plans to include many NPCs in VulcanVerse, creating a thriving realistic environment to spend your time. Some of these will be quest givers and others unique characters that you must interact with such as market traders.

Quest Giving Characters

There are currently four quest giving characters in VulcanVerse, one for each quadrant. On accepting and completing the quest they provide, a player can earn XP. The quest givers are as follows:

Rhadamanthus

Rhadamanthus, in Greek mythology, was a wise king of Crete and the son of Zeus and Europa. He was considered a demigod. In VulcanVerse, he appears in the Palace of the Dead in the Underworld of Hades as a quest giver.

King Lykaon

King Lykaon can be found in the Deep Forest in the Gardens of Arcadia, among the northernmost ruins. In Greek mythology, Zeus transformed Lykaon (or Lycaon), a king of Arcadia, into a wolf.

The Sphinx

Located at Pyramid Mausoleum A, the northernmost pyramid in the Desert of Notus, the Sphinx appears in Greek mythology as a monster who plagued the town of Thebes as punishment for an ancient crime, preying on its youths and devouring all who failed to solve her riddle.

Nysa, Queen of the Oreads

In Greek mythology, Nysa was a mountainous region. In VulcanVerse, Nysa is a name of one of the Oreads, a mountain nymph. There is a Mount Nysa on the VulcanVerse map.

Other NPCs

Garos, Fishmonger of Boreas

Garos is a fishmonger character who will be located in the Mountains of Boreas quadrant of VulcanVerse. A player will need to visit Garos to trade any fish they have caught when fishing in exchange for assets and NFTs.

Phainos, Fishmonger of Arcadia

Garos is a fishmonger character who will be located in the Gardens of Arcadia quadrant of VulcanVerse. A player will need to visit Phainos to trade any fish they have caught when fishing in exchange for assets and NFTs.

Glaukos, Fishmonger of Notus

Glaukos is a fishmonger character who will be located in the Desert of Notus quadrant of VulcanVerse. A player will need to visit Glaukos to trade any fish they have caught when fishing in exchange for assets and NFTs.

Manos, Fishmonger of Hades

Manos is a fishmonger character who will be located in the Underworld of Hades quadrant of VulcanVerse. A player will need to visit Manos to trade any fish they have caught when fishing in exchange for assets and NFTs.

Wryon

Wryon is a troll that was originally developed to be the first Vulcanite, but due to the character's cult like status among the Vulcan Forged community, will possibly become a wandering NPC who will walk the streets of Vulcan City.
